Sharing Research Results!

This past March, SFNFCI’s first disability research project – the Athabasca Community Research Partnership, came to a close.  This successful research initiative, undertaken in partnership with Athabasca Denesuline CFS has provided valuable insights into the challenges facing those dealing with disabilities and special needs in the far North.  In addition to describing the disability service landscape in Athabasca and sharing the stories and ideas of participants, the project’s final report also outlines meaningful recommendations for improving the situation.

While the project results were already shared directly in the participating communities of Black Lake, Fond du Lac, and Hatchet Lake, we are continuing to distribute results by sending hard copies to various stakeholders and also through requested presentations.

This past month, researcher Raissa Graumans, presented the project findings at a Northern Disability Coalition meeting held on August 25th in La Ronge.
