June 9th, 2022 SDM Supervisor Working Group

SDM Consultant Rachel Andal met with supervisors from different First Nations Child and Family Service Agencies on June 9^th, 2022, for SFNFCI’s quarterly SDM Supervisors Working Group. The meeting was our first blended working group where supervisors joined both in person and virtual utilizing Microsoft Teams.

It was great to be able to meet in person with Elder Ernestine Starr who provided elder services throughout the day.

Some of the topics discussed were:

• Current staffing at SFNFCI, currently only one SDM consultant as Ashely Hricz is currently on maternity leave and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.
• SDM training schedule has been coordinated for 2022-2023. Both in person and virtual trainings for all agencies are planned. The schedule is on the SFNFCI website under “What’s New” and all registration links can be found on the SFNFCI website under “Calendar of Events”.
• Reviewed proposed changes to Saskatchewan SDM manuals. Survey will be sent to FN CFS agencies to further guide next steps to proposed changes.
• SFNFCI On-call/Emergency Duty training was discussed and shared. Pilot will be delivered in following months. FN CFS agency supervisors interested in being apart of the pilot to connect with SDM consultant.
• Supervisor skill development and refresher topic: Gems of Clarity.

Our next SDM Supervisors Working Group will be held on September 8^th, 2022.
