Disability Project: Interviews Begin

The Disability Project has officially entered the data collection phase with trips by researcher Raissa Graumans to both MLTCCFS (Meadow Lake Tribal Council Child and Family Services) and ACCFS (Agency Chiefs Child and Family Services).

The project, which launched this spring  [ http://www.sfnfci.ca/whats-new/posts/disability_research_project_gets_underway.html ]  is collecting information on children and youth with disabilities on reserve and in care with one of the two project partner agencies (MLTCCFS and ACCFS).

Carla Billette (Supervisor), Doreen Morin (Protection/Prevention worker), and Raissa Graumans (researcher)

In addition to collecting information through reviewing case files, one-on-one and group interviews are also being conducted.  This month Raissa began interviewing CFS staff – including case managers, enhancement workers, protection/prevention workers, and supervisors.  She visited MTLCCFS’s main office on Flying Dust and sub-office in Buffalo Narrows from July 12th to 14th, and ACCFS offices in Spiritwood on July 18th.   On future trips interviews will also be scheduled with professional service providers, families and caregivers, as well as elders and local school staff.

If you are interested in receiving monthly updates on the project, or if you know of anyone who may be interested in participating, please contact Raissa at       306-373-2874 x223 or raissa@sfnfci.ca.
