Successful SDM Training October 26, 27, 28, 2022

On October 26 – 28, 2022 SFNFCI delivered a full SDM (structured decision making) course. The course was delivered in-person in the SFNFCI classroom. There was a total of 12 participants who completed the course.

The training was facilitated by SFNNFCI SDM Consultants, Rachel Andal and Brianna Raine and the Learning Operations Coordinator, Misty Kay. The group was engaged with the material, asked lots of questions and practiced the new tools they were learning. Elder/Knowledge Keeper Ernestine Starr joined us throughout the session to provide elder services.

SDM is a case management system used in the delivery of child protection services. The SDM system is comprised of six assessment tools: Intake Assessment; Safety Assessment; Risk Assessment; Family Strengths and Needs Assessment; Risk Reassessment; and Reunification Assessment.

The SDM model has laid out several core objectives: structure critical decision points; increase consistency in decision making; increase accuracy in decision making, and to inform policy and practice through the use of data to improve case practice.

Reminder to all workers learning the SDM model, it is a learning process. For further development of skills SDM consultants are hosting a SDM Tuesday series starting February 14th, 2023.

Our next Full SDM Training in person will be held January 31, February 1-2, 2023 see SFNFCI Calendar of Events for registration link.
