Prevention Training November 26-27 2019

On November 26-27 2019 we had our Communication Skills for Prevention Workers Training. There were 21 people who completed this training, from seven different organizations. This training focuses on basic communication skills for Prevention Workers. This training was facilitated by Marlene Mirasty. 
 
Upon completion of this course learners will have: 
 
1. Explored and examined your own communication style. The aim is to be able to consistently use effective communication skills in your work with others.
2. Consistently seek to improve these skills through observation, self-assessment and feedback. 
3. Consistently apply effective communication skills with the aim of building positive, trusting, nurturing relationships with other people. 
4. Consistently use effective communications skills when dealing with crisis or conflict. 
5. Continuously assess your own communication skills with the aim to continue improving your communication skills.
 
As Prevention Workers they are required to: 
 
1. To understand key elements of models of communication.
2. To demonstrate essential elements of effective communication skills.
3. To use essential communication skills to build trust and reduce conflict (including verbal and non-verbal communication).
4. To use essential communication skills in building positive relationships.
